I bought this book because on the front cover it says: “Covers the laws of your state.” Baloney! This book does not tell you what the law is in your particular state. Whatever topic that is talked about in the book, sooner or later you’ll read the phrase: “In some states” or “In many states”. But almost never does this book specifically tell you what the law is in your particular state. If it can’t tell you that, then what good is it? And over and over again the book tells you to consult an attorney.
If you are looking for a book that will give you specific information about the divorce laws in your state; this book isn’t it. I’m sending it back.

This is a must read before going to see a lawyer. Although there is not very much helpful state specific advice or guidance, there is enough detail to prepare you for what lies ahead.

Once again, Nolo Press succeeds in making this legal topic accessible to all. Even if you are wondering what separation or divorce might do to you, legally and economically, this book is worth considering. If you are further down the path towards divorce, you definitely need this book. It is full of common sense and legal advice about making the separation of your lives work out as well as possible. It can save you from going overboard on legal fees — and can save you from many other headaches as well. Recommended.

This is a manual to help you with a “do it yourself” divorce. It has things that you need to know and help with forms.
It is a great guide to have.
